Allesandro Liberati was an Italian cornetist who was recruited to America to be cornet soloist with Patrick Gilmore's Band in 1872. His reputation grew as he toured with many leading bands, and he was a household name by 1885. Herbert Clarke said that Liberati had an incredibly fast single-tongue, and that he could single-tongue four sixteenth notes per beat at M.M. = 160!
